I think Kathy's done it by using a light to create a shadow of the child on the wall. If the spot where the shadow fell was covered with paper then you can trace the child's profile and cut it to color or put on a different background. I think this should work for a larger version, but the small ones were done by taking a profile pic of each child, cutting it out and tracing around it on black paper. Paste the black paper on another color of paper and frame it and there you have it.
It's actually easier than that! Once you cut out their profile from the picture, you just turn it over and using a black sharpie or marker with a big/wide tip, you cover over all of the back of the photo. Super Easy! And they look nice in their new home on the shelf!
I really like this idea! How creative and simple. I'd like to do this and hang them in my long, bare hallway. I agree with Christal, this would also be a fun rainbow class idea.
By the way - The girls (Audrey, Marian, and Molly) have a lot of fun at the beginning of school before their class starts. They are very sweet to watch.
What a neat rainbow class idea!! We could put these up around the classroom if there is some way to make them big.
